Bill Jones has worked as a Sports Anchor with CBS 11 Sports since 2006.
He has covered the Dallas Cowboys throughout his career, doing Cowboys pre-season television play-by-play on CBS 11 for 21 years as well as hosting a variety of weekly television programs, including Cowboys Game Day, The Mike McCarthy Show and The Jason Garrett Show.
Bill was the television play-by-play broadcaster for the Texas Rangers baseball club for five seasons, from 1997-2001.
He began working in Dallas-Fort Worth as a sportscaster with the NBC affiliate, KXAS, from 1990-97.
Having grown up in Irving, Bill has deep roots in the DFW area. A graduate of the University of Oklahoma, he has spent his entire sportscasting career in the state of Texas, working in Dallas-Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Lubbock.
Bill was Sports Director at the NBC affiliate, KMOL (now WOAI), for four years. He began his television sportscasting career in Lubbock, spending four years at the ABC affiliate KAMC.
Bill also has worked for Fox Sports Southwest and ESPN doing play-by-play of a wide variety of college sports including Big 12 football, basketball, baseball, swimming and diving, gymnastics, track and field and wrestling.
Bill and his wife, Stacy, live in Southlake and have three daughters: Jennifer, who is married to Kody Wetzold and has two sons, Ezra and Brayden; Jessica, who is married to Collin Griffith and has 3 sons, James, Hudson, and Parks; and Jordan, who is married to Shaun Ferreira. Since 2007, they also have had two beagles, Beau and Romo, who passed away in 2023.
